Garden Jobs that are Best Done in the Winter

Home

Winter can be a depressing time of the year – it makes us want to curl up indoors and not venture outside. But in the long run this can actually make us feel worse – it is good to get outdoors and get some fresh air and exercise.

Getting out into the garden at wintertime might not sound a particularly appealing idea, but you will be surprised at how much you can do out there at this time of year, which will have your garden looking great into the spring and get you out and feeling better. Here are a few things that are ideal winter garden-based activities…

Create a Wildlife Area – We know that wildlife all over the world is under threat, so do your bit to help particularly in these cold months. You can set up a bird feeding station, create a bug hotel where bugs can shelter in the winter and put-up bat and birdboxes to encourage animals to breed safely in your garden.

Do Garden Repairs – When you are using the garden all through the summer it makes doing the repair jobs more difficult – the winter is the ideal time. Check for any fencing that looks damaged and repair it to save it from being blown down in winter storms and do maintenance jobs such as looking after garden machinery. Lawnmower parts such as Briggs and Stratton parts are available at many places like Briggs Bits.
