The humble beginnings of Sir Michael Caine

Reviews

Maurice Micklewhite is not a name that many would know. However, when you realise it is the real life name of Sir Michael Caine. Like many actors that have risen to greatness this English institution did not have the most privileged start in life. He, like many others, had to struggle and scrape his way forward. His films include some of the greatest ever made. Alfie, The Cider House Rules and the truly iconic Italian Job, where he and an intrepid band steal a load of gold bullion. Although it’s hard to imagine how they would have been able to turn it into cash with AML IDENTITY VERIFICATION systems like that from w2globaldata.com/regulatory-compliance-solutions-and-software/aml-id-checks.

His Mum and Dad were of very simple means. His Mother worked as a Maid and a Cook. His Father was a porter of fish at a market. They were moved to a Prefabricated house just after the war which seemed like a palace to the Micklewhites.

The young Maurice soon became interested in acting and appeared in school plays frequently. He was able to pass his eleven-plus, which meant he would be able to go to Grammar School, opening up a lot more opportunities for him. He began acting properly at the age of 20 and spent the next 9 years working his socks off in theatre and television before breaking into films.
