Horse racing is a popular sport and there are certain horse racing events that are very popular – Royal Ascot is a great example of this and it is something that many people want to experience at least once! Make sure you check the dress code and browse some ready-to-wear occasion dresses before you go!

Other horse racing events that are popular include the Grand National at Aintree and Cheltenham Festival, both of which draw huge crowds.

Something quite different from horse racing, but very popular of course is football, and going to watch a premier league match is something that is a huge and enjoyable experience, especially if your team is playing. The atmosphere of these big matches make them truly special and unique.

In the summer it is hard to find any sport more popular than Wimbledon – if tennis is something that you enjoy, it is well worth going to watch the world’s greatest tennis stars play, as well as enjoying the obligatory strawberries and cream of course!

What to Wear to Each One

Every event has its own take on ‘smart’ for spectators. At Wimbledon there is no formal dress code but most people opt for smart summer attire such as a light dress or chinos and shirt with comfortable shoes to wear all day on the grounds. Henley Royal Regatta is the strictest and in the Stewards’ Enclosure women’s dresses and skirts must be below the knee in length. At Glorious Goodwood relaxed summer tailoring is the order of the day with linen and panama hats added to complete the look. At Cheltenham in March it is warm layers, such as tweed, a good coat and boots that are able to cope in the mud.
