Why the kitchen is so important to the house

Home

One of the main focuses of any modern home is still the kitchen. Whilst it may no longer be the place where you’ll find Mum or Grannie (now Dad is in there too, and rightly so) cooking away it’s still a place of meeting and greeting. It’s also the room where the family can really all come together and have a shared experience in them. This may involve making meals together or baking cakes and tarts for a birthday or just because we feel like doing it. A well-lit, well-appointed kitchen is a must for many homes and Downlight Covers like those from https://www.thermahooddirect.com can be a big help in making it.

Looking through our history there is always an emphasis on the kitchen for events happening. For example, in Emmerdale Farm, the big wooden kitchen table, just off from the main range oven was the focal point for many plot and character developments. The matriarch Anne Sugden would dispense sense and wisdom to her sons.

In song also the kitchen is celebrated. The novelty song “You will always find me in the Kitchen at parties” by Jona Lewie reached the heights of number 11 in the UK chart and number 3 in New Zealand. The song is about a man who laments his lack of success with finding a girlfriend. The main problem is that the only girls he meets at the parties in the kitchen are into fancy cooking, which he can’t do!
